AAAE Unveils Airport Finance and Law Enforcement Certification Programs

For Immediate Release
November 9, 2020

Alexandria, Va. — The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the world’s largest professional association for airport personnel, has added two new certification options to its extensive offering of Airport Certified Employee (ACE) programs – ACE Airport Finance and ACE Law Enforcement Officer (LEO).

The ACE Airport Finance program provides comprehensive training and resources for aviation personnel who handle financial and administrative services at air carrier and general aviation airports. The program's in-depth curriculum covers a wide variety of critical topical areas, including federal regulations and policy, research from aviation organizations, and generally accepted accounting and industry practices.

The ACE LEO program is based on AAAE’s Aviation Security for LEOs Training Course, which has been the aviation industry’s foundational course for law enforcement and security personnel assigned to airports for more than 17 years. The ACE LEO program focuses not only regulatory authority, but also on response protocols and real-world applications. The first ACE LEO course
will be held virtually Dec. 1-4.

With the addition of these options, AAAE now offers eight ACE certifications for airport professionals. Other ACE programs are Airfield Operations, Airfield Lighting Maintenance, Airport Security, Airport Communications Center Operations, Safety Management Systems and Trusted Agent. These programs, which are widely recognized throughout the airport community, provide immense value to airport professionals seeking to expand their knowledge base and professional opportunities.

AAAE also offers the gold standard in accreditation for airport professionals – the Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E). Introduced in 1954, this rigorous program recognizes experienced airport personnel who have demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and commitment to professionalism in the industry. The association’s standalone Certified Member program (C.M.), introduced in 1994, also is a component of the A.A.E. program and can serve as a stepping-stone to accreditation for airport personnel. The C.M. program is open to non-airport professionals as well.

AAAE provides more than 40 training courses for aviation industry personnel, as well as a wide variety of educational meetings and webinars for professional development.
