THE PM/CM TRACK

The 2021 ACC/AAAE Planning, Design, and Construction (Virtual) Symposium is scheduled for March 1, 2, and 4, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be virtual this year, but we are looking forward to some inspiring sessions, meeting with our peers, and networking with industry leaders. Traffic will return and projects will be built, yet how we deliver and manage those projects has forever changed. Whether it’s new and organized opening procedures, updated standards for construction during a global event, adopting new technologies to deliver projects safely and more efficiently, or understanding emerging delivery strategies including public-private partnerships (P3), we address them all!

ORAT – Supporting Operational Continuity

With the number of new terminal and terminal redevelopment projects taking place, discussing operational readiness and transition for these new facilities is essential. This workshop focuses on what a successful ORAT program requires for processes, systems, familiarization, and post-opening support.

The New Normal – Lessons Learned from Construction Operations during COVID-19

Using real-world examples—both good and bad—taken from general contractors, construction managers and owners to understand the impact COVID-19 has had on capital programs and projects, our panel discussions delve into these lessons learned and focus on how they can be applied in preparing for the next interruption.

Integrating New and Emerging Technologies into Terminal Construction Projects

As the pace of technology innovation in the construction industry accelerates, this panel focuses on strategies for interfacing/integrating new systems with each other and with existing systems. Also covered are strategies for complying with disadvantaged, minority- and women-owned, and small business requirements when contracting for technology-based systems.

The Current State of P3s at U.S. Airports

Is there a place for P3s in the future of airport programs/projects, or are they a trend of the past? What is the role of PM/CM staff on a P3 versus other alternative or traditional delivery methods? What are the unique challenges in coordinating with stakeholders under a P3?  What techniques can be used to accurately report cost and schedule for P3s? This panel focuses on those exclusive features to consider when delivering P3s.
