Through collaboration and a dynamic partner network, ACT’s call-to-action is to mobilize its members to transform shared challenges into actionable, results-oriented innovation resources for airports.
ACT Airport Electrification Task Force Releases New Report on Preparing for Rising Electrical Demand
We have released our newest industry report, a key initiative emerging from the Airport Electrification Task Force, led by Siemens, examining how U.S. airports are preparing for rapidly increasing electrical demand and the growing operational responsibilities associated with managing complex energy systems.
“This report underscores the challenge and opportunity that airports have to transform their approach to energy management to drive meaningful improvements across our industry,” said Amy Nagengast, PhD, P.E., Energy Program Manager at San Francisco International Airport.
This research reflects our continued focus on helping airports share insights, develop industry resources, and collaboratively address emerging infrastructure challenges. You can view the report here.
Airport Industry Engagement Needed
ACT Task Forces are seeking your input. We’re looking for airport participation to help us gather feedback and better understand how the program can support your needs. Please consider sharing these survey opportunities with the appropriate members of your team. The more participation we receive, the more well-rounded our research and approach will be—enabling us to deliver results that better serve a wider range of airports and drive greater impact.
ACT brings the airport community together by offering opportunities to experience emerging technologies firsthand in real-world settings. As airports work to innovate and evaluate new solutions, ACT’s “Airport Open House” model fosters shared learning and collaboration.
Join us in Seattle on Tuesday, April 21, as King County International Airport – Boeing Field opens its doors to showcase its latest electrification efforts, including the Striker Volterra electric ARFF vehicle—the first of its kind at a U.S. airport.
ACT CEO Steering Group Set to Reconvene in Los Angeles
The ACT CEO Steering Group—comprised of airport directors from ACT’s 62 participating airports—will convene in Los Angeles as part of the AAAE Annual Conference. This meeting provides a valuable opportunity for airport leadership to engage directly on innovation priorities, share strategic perspectives, and offer input to help guide the ACT program toward the areas where airports need the most support and resources. The active involvement of CEOs ensures that ACT initiatives remain aligned with executive-level priorities and are positioned to drive meaningful, industry-wide impact.
The ACT Insights procurement tool continues to gain strong momentum with 12 airports actively supporting the initiative by contributing documentation and helping shape the platform. In collaboration with PA Consulting, the project has reached an important milestone with an initial version of the tool ready for demonstration.
In the coming weeks, participating airports will be invited to preview the tool, provide feedback, and help refine its capabilities ahead of a broader showcase at the ACT CEO Steering Group meeting. This collaborative effort is focused on streamlining procurement processes and delivering shared value across the airport community. You can find all participating airports here.
