The International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE) Board of Directors met Monday during the 98th Annual AAAE Conference and Exposition in Los Angeles to discuss the organization’s strategic priorities, global engagement efforts, and future growth initiatives.
The meeting marked the first formal board session led by new IAAE Chair Jorge Hernández, CEO of Aerostar Airport Holdings in Puerto Rico. Hernández outlined priorities focused on strengthening professionalism across the international airport industry while expanding the organization’s global reach and member engagement.
Board members discussed membership growth strategies, sponsorship and revenue opportunities, and the continued advancement of IAAE conferences and professional training programs. Directors also explored opportunities to contribute non-political editorials to the IAAE newsletter highlighting industry trends, operational best practices, and global aviation developments.
The board also reviewed governance matters, including bylaws provisions, committee alignment, board responsibilities, and opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness. Heba Gouda, AAAE Vice President of Global Operations, provided updates on international programs and upcoming conferences.
The session concluded with an open discussion among board members focused on next steps and continued efforts to enhance international collaboration and engagement throughout the airport industry.
During the AAAE Board meeting at the conference, Paul Priegel, aviation project manager with Lochner, was elected to serve on the IAAE Board of Directors.
