Regulatory Alert: AAAE Seeks Feedback on Updated DOT/FAA NEPA Implementation Guidance

July 9, 2025

AAAE is seeking feedback from our members on recently released guidance documents from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that implement their responsibilities under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The new NEPA guidance documents, DOT Order 5610.1D and FAA Order 1050.1G, include significant revisions and explain how the department and agency will conduct NEPA reviews for any new federal actions moving forward. DOT and FAA have both provided an opportunity to industry to submit comments on the documents no later than Monday, August 4.

AAAE is surveying our members to collect feedback and help shape our response, which DOT and FAA will consider for future revisions. We are asking members to respond to this survey by Friday, July 25, to ensure we can meet the comment deadline. In addition, AAAE will be hosting a discussion with members on Wednesday, July 16, at 1-2 p.m. ET, to discuss the updated NEPA implementation guidance. We will be explaining some of the major takeaways from the documents and collecting additional input from the virtual meeting. You can sign up to receive a calendar invite for the virtual meeting using the form here.

We hope you or someone from your airport can join us for the virtual meeting and appreciate any feedback you can provide.
