About the Event

Join airport leaders, state aviation officials, and industry innovators for an interactive exploration of emerging uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) technologies that are transforming airport operations and shaping the future of aviation.

Hosted by AAAE’s Airport Consortium on Transformation (ACT) in partnership with the Oklahoma Aerospace Institute for Research and Education (OAIRE), this Innovation Engagement offers a unique opportunity to see UAS technologies in action, engage directly with subject matter experts, and connect with peers from across the aviation industry.

Through expert-led discussions and live demonstrations, participants will explore real-world applications of UAS, including weather observation, drone delivery, and counter-UAS technologies. Whether your airport is actively deploying new technologies or evaluating future opportunities, this event provides valuable peer-to-peer learning and firsthand exposure to innovations.

Participants are also encouraged to extend their stay and attend AAAE's Airport Operations & Technology Symposium, where airport professionals from across the country will explore the latest trends, technologies, and operational strategies shaping the airport industry.

About OAIRE

The Oklahoma Aerospace Institute for Research and Education is a global leader in the aerospace industry. It serves as a testing ground for cutting-edge technology, forging a path toward a dynamic future in innovation.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will gain practical insights into how uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) are being deployed today - and what airport leaders should be considering as these technologies continue to evolve.

Topics include:

    • How UAS are enhancing weather observation and atmospheric data collection, and the potential implications for airport operations, situational awareness, and aviation decision-making.

    • The current state of drone delivery operations, including infrastructure needs, regulatory considerations, and emerging opportunities for airports and communities.

    • How airports can prepare for and respond to unauthorized drone activity through evolving counter-UAS technologies, operational practices, and regulatory frameworks.

    • The real-world capabilities of UAS through live demonstrations of weather-sensing platforms, delivery drones, and drone detection technologies.

    • Key trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of UAS integration and what airport and state aviation leaders can do today to prepare for tomorrow's aviation environment.

    • Lessons learned and perspectives from industry experts, operators, and innovators at the forefront of UAS deployment and airspace integration.

Who Should Attend

  • Airport executives and senior leadership
  • Operations, planning, and engineering professionals
  • Innovation and sustainability leads
  • Airside and safety personnel
  • Industry partners supporting airport infrastructure, technology, and operations
