About the Instructor
Daniel A. Morelos, ACE
Instructor
Daniel A. Morelos brings more than three decades of experience in the aviation industry, having spent 33 years with the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA). Over the course of his career, he progressed through a series of leadership roles, beginning as a Communications Dispatcher and advancing to Lead Dispatcher, Director of Communications/Dispatch, Director of Operations, and ultimately Director of Safety Programs. His extensive background reflects a deep commitment to operational excellence, safety, and communications within airport environments.
During his tenure as Director of Communications/Dispatch, Daniel led the department to a significant milestone—earning accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in 2003. This achievement marked the first time an Airport Communications Center received such recognition, underscoring his leadership and dedication to high professional standards in public safety communications.
Daniel remains an active leader in the field through his involvement with the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO). He serves on the APCO Standards Development Committee and contributes as a consultant and certified trainer. Additionally, he participates in several key committees and workgroups, including the SDC Training Sub-Committee, Occupational Analysis Sub-Committee, and chairs the Incident Handling Process Workgroup, continuing to shape best practices in public safety communications.
