About the Webinar

Electrification initiatives have increasingly become integral to airport planning, with considerations woven into master plans, energy plans, sustainability strategies, utility frameworks, and transportation plans. Collaboration with utility providers is essential, as airports work closely with these partners to assess and prepare for future electrification capacity needs. Capital improvement programs now routinely include electrification projects, ensuring that infrastructure investments support the transition to electric systems. Furthermore, airports are developing and implementing policies that guide electrification efforts for renovations, new construction, and the adoption of electric vehicles, helping to drive progress toward more sustainable and energy-efficient operations.  This webinar focuses on lessons learned from leading ACT airport sustainability leaders who are planning for and implementing electrification projects for demand forecasting to utility integration to incorporating electrification in policies and capital improvement plans.

AAAE’s innovation program, ACT, hosting a webinar is all part of exploring new ways to spark fresh ideas for the industry. While ACT typically focuses on research and solution development, our Steering Group encouraged us to pilot a new, more interactive format rooted in ACT’s core mantra of innovation and collaboration. This session will dive into how airports are electrifying everything from EV fleets to major infrastructure, feature lessons learned directly from industry leaders at San Diego International Airport and Denver International Airport, and showcase how AAAE and ACT are leveraging AI-enabled tools during a live discussion to capture insights and generate a research resource for the ACT repository.
