About the Course

The Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Airport Planning and Environmental Review Course is designed especially for aviation professionals responsible for planning and environmental compliance at commercial service and general aviation airports and aviation-based companies. The certification is based on fundamental federal regulations and policies, research from aviation organizations and generally accepted planning and environmental practices. It explores the diverse components that make-up the airport, including airside and landside facilities, stakeholder participation, master planning, airport layout plan development, and environmental considerations. This course will be an extensive review of the ACE Planning body of knowledge modules to help attendees learn and retain the information and pass the exam.

Cancellation Policy:

Training registration fees are non-refundable. For all inquiries regarding registrations, cancellations and refund requests, please contact the AAAE Training Department by email at training@aaae.org. All inquires must be submitted in writing. All cancellation requests for registrations received on or before Tuesday, June 24, 2025, are subject to a $150 cancellation processing fee; approved refunds will be processed after the meeting takes place. There will be no refunds of any kind after this date. Cancellations with outstanding invoices received within two weeks of the start of the conference, will require full payment on the balance due. Refunds will not be provided, and balance dues will not be forgiven for no-shows. Substitutions within the same conference will be accepted without penalties. The difference between member and non-member price will be charged if a non-member replaces a member. Substitutions will be accepted with a written request to Training@aaae.org. The individual substituting for the original registrant is responsible for all financial obligations (balance due; difference in fees due to membership type) associated with that substitution. For all inquiries regarding cancellations, refunds and substitutions, please contact the AAAE Training Department at 703.797.9009 or email Training@aaae.org. By submitting a completed registration form, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the cancellation policy.

As an aviation planning manager for Mead & Hunt, Stephanie Ward oversees the development of planning projects for airports, as well as state and federal agencies. Stephanie has over 32 years of experience in the aviation industry and has been heavily involved in all aspects of aviation during that time. As a private pilot since the late 1980’s, Stephanie is passionate about working with communities and airport sponsors to keep airports viable. She was the principal investigator for ACRP Report 259 regarding tree mitigation around airports – a topic she is heavily involved in with a number of her client airports. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and a master’s degree in Parks and Recreation Resources from Michigan State University, and she is a certified member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Civilian/Military Airport Connection (CMAC)

What is CMAC?

The Civilian/Military Airport Connection (CMAC) program helps separating military personnel and new veterans acclimate from managing military airfields to the dynamic and complex commercial-use airport environment.

There are four components to the program:

  1. Professional transition workshop
  2. One airport certification course - choice of ACE Airfield Operations or Certified Member (C.M.)
  3. One year membership in AAAE
  4. Airport job shadowing
