Airport Alert: International Travel to Resume on November 8th

October 15, 2021

This morning, the White House announced that it is lifting the 212f travel restrictions and permitting fully vaccinated non-U.S. citizens to resume traveling to the United States on November 8, 2021. Last month, the White House announced that these international travelers will need to show proof of their vaccination status to board an airplane to the United States and have received a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours before departure. Any unvaccinated Americans returning to the U.S. will be subject to stricter testing requirements. Unvaccinated Americans must show a negative test result taken within one day before departure and proof of having purchased a COVID-19 test kit for use post-arrival.

The Administration is still working through the final details on global testing, vaccines (including exemptions), and contact tracing to implement this change.  These details will be released no later than October 25, 2021, providing airports, airlines, and others two weeks to prepare for the return of international travelers from more than 30 countries after an eighteen-month hiatus.

Additionally, travel restrictions for fully vaccinated foreign nationals will be lifted at the land borders between the United States, Canada, and Mexico on November 8.

AAAE staff will share more details as they become available.
