Action Alert: Proposed Airport Funding in Jeopardy; We Need Your Help!

December 18, 2020

We're picking up reports from Capitol Hill that the $4 billion proposed for airports as part of the bipartisan and bicameral coronavirus relief package is in jeopardy of being eliminated.  And we need you to reach out to your Congressional members as soon as possible to keep that funding in the final relief package.

Congressional leaders are apparently considering providing as much as $12 billion for highway projects without raising the topline number for transportation.  Lawmakers are proposing to pay for that increase by reducing or eliminating funding for other transportation proposals that were contained in the bipartisan and bicameral plan -- including shifting every dollar of proposed funding for airports.

Lawmakers and staff are still working to finalize the relief package.  We realize that it is Friday night and the holidays are around the corner, but we urge you to reach out to your Congressional offices as soon as possible.  Please urge them to keep the $4 billion for airports in the final relief package.

Congressional leaders intend to wrap up debate on the coronavirus relief package and the Fiscal Year 2021 omnibus appropriations bill soon.  The House and Senate tonight passed a two-day continuing resolution to keep the government operating past midnight when the current stop-gap measure is set to expire.
