Action Alert: Saturday Afternoon Update: Coronavirus Relief Negotiations Nearing Completion; Keep The Calls Coming!

Saturday, December 19, 2020 | 4:20 p.m.

Thank you to all of you who have answered this morning's 'call to action' to try and salvage funding for airports as part of a final coronavirus relief package. It is clear from our numerous discussions throughout the day with key offices in the House and Senate, that the Hill is hearing from airports. It is also clear that we have more work to do to gain funding for airports in a final package. So, please keep the calls coming to your congressional offices and urge them to contact Leadership to insist that critical airport funding be a part of any final package.

As we reported this morning, the revised package circulating on Capitol Hill earlier today DID NOT include the $4 billion proposed for airports as part of the bipartisan and bicameral plan released earlier this week.  The airport funding had instead been reallocated to highways as part of the $45 billion package designated for transportation.

It is difficult to know precisely where things stand at the moment, but we do know that lawmakers and staff are trying to wrap up the package today and are reportedly down to just a few final issues to resolve.

With time running out, we need your continued help to ring the bell with your congressional delegation. Again, this is not a drill, we're on the verge of losing out on critical funding, and we need your help ASAP!

Our sincere thanks to all of you who have been weighing in throughout the day. We are receiving attention; we just need to ensure that attention turns to action…
