Airport Alert: Saying Goodbye to a Consequential 2024 and Getting Ready for 2025; Thank You for Your Support!

December 23, 2024

Following House passage of a bill to keep the federal government operating through March 14 (see Airport Alert), the Senate approved the measure early Saturday morning, averting a shutdown and effectively closing the book on 2024 and the 118th Congress.

As you will soon see in the AAAE 2024 Federal Affairs Annual Report that will hit your inbox on January 2, this year was a consequential one for airports, headlined by passage of a five-year FAA reauthorization bill. Despite election year noise and disruptions, there were many victories for airports with the FAA bill and on many other fronts both on Capitol Hill and with regulatory agencies. Those successes wouldn’t have been possible without your active engagement and support.

So, as we turn the page from 2024 to what promises to be an eventful 2025, the AAAE team would like to say thank you. The 2024 Federal Affairs Membership saw record support with more than 150 airports participating, and we already have nearly 80 on-board with the 2025 Federal Affairs Membership. The financial support we receive through these memberships directly underwrites the talented team you hear every week and puts resources to work for airports in Washington every day. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

It is also incredibly gratifying to see 130-150 of you showing up every week for our regularly scheduled update calls. Having a grassroots army of informed and engaged airport professionals has proven incredibly impactful in advancing the airport agenda, and it will be even more important as we turn to 2025 with a dramatically changed Washington and a slew of new decisionmakers to educate.

Thank you, Happy Holidays, and lace up your shoes; here comes 2025…
