Airport Alert: Additional Airports Added as Screening Locations for Coronavirus

Yesterday, the Acting Secretary of Homeland Security expanded the list of airports, from 7 to 11, where direct flights from China can land and all passengers who have traveled to China within the last 14 days will receive public health screenings. Specifically:
Yesterday, the Acting Secretary of Homeland Security expanded the list of airports, from 7 to 11, where direct flights from China can land and all passengers who have traveled to China within the last 14 days will receive public health screenings. Specifically:
- After 5 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2020, flights were required to land at one of eight airports: JFK, ORD, SFO, SEA, HNL, LAX, ATL or IAD;
- Beginning at 6:30 am EST on Monday February 3, 2020, the authorized airport list was expanded to include EWR; and
- Beginning at 7:30 am EST on Monday, February 3, 2020, DFW and DTW were authorized to receive flights.
According to DHS, these 11 airports have the capacity to quarantine passengers for the initial screening. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention will transport any passengers of concern from the airports to identified quarantine locations in each city.
The arrival restrictions will continue until cancelled or modified by the Secretary of DHS. The Federal Register notification with more details on these restrictions and cancellation or modification can be found here.
