Airport Alert: Senate Passes FY22 Spending Package, Sending Measure to President
March 10, 2022
After a long and tortuous process - and more than five months late - the Senate has just joined the House in approving a final fiscal year 2022 omnibus spending package that funds the federal government through September. The measure was approved in the Senate on a 68-31 bipartisan vote and is expected to be signed by the President.
The final FY22 package includes a number of wins for airports, including nearly $4 billion in funding for 'regular' AIP funding ($3.35 billion) and supplemental AIP discretionary spending ($554 million); increased funding for the Contract Tower Program; and funding for the TSA LEO reimbursement program and TSA exit lane staffing. A full list of airport priorities and how they are addressed in the final package can be viewed in our previous Airport Alert.
With the passage of the FY22 omnibus spending measure, attention now turns to the FY23 funding cycle. We are awaiting the release of the Administration's budget request, which will formally kick off the process for the fiscal year that begins on October 1. We are sincerely grateful for your continued support and partnership and look forward to working with you to produce similarly positive results in FY23.
