Airport Alert: Administration Restricts Flights From Brazil

Effective at 11:59 pm on May 26, 2020, the Administration will restrict flights from Brazil into the United States.  The travel restriction does not cancel flights from Brazil but it will limit where they can land.  Brazilian flights will be directed to 15 U.S. airports.  These locations include the current 13 funneling airports:  

  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York; 
  • Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), Illinois; 
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO), California; 
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Washington; 
  • Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Hawaii; 
  • Los Angeles International Airport, (LAX), California; 
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Georgia; 
  • Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD), Virginia; 
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New Jersey; 
  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas; 
  • Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), Michigan; 
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Massachusetts; and 
  • Miami International Airport (MIA), Florida.
Two additional airports will be added to the funneling list: 
  • George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport (IAH), Texas; and 
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Florida.  
The travel restriction does not apply to U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents (green card holders), most immediate family members of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents, and specific categories of individual visa holders who are identified in the Presidential Proclamation. 

Entry is suspended of foreign nationals of all nationalities, including Brazilians, who were present in Brazil within 14 days prior to their arrival in the United States.  This policy is intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
