Security Policy Alert: No TSA Monthly Conference Call for Airport Stakeholders and Upcoming Schedule
January 5, 2023
No TSA Call
As a reminder, TSA will not host its monthly conference call for airport stakeholders on Jan. 5, 2023. The next TSA call will be Thursday, February 2 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Upcoming Schedule
TSA will be a hosting a series of WebEx meetings on January 17 and 18 to discuss and review the 2020 proposed Airport Security Program (ASP) amendment on aviation worker screening. There are three sessions scheduled. The same presentation will be provided at each session; the multiple times are to allow flexibility for airport representatives to participate. It is not necessary to attend all three sessions.
In December, at the Airports-Only Meeting following the 22nd Annual AAAE Aviation Security Summit, TSA indicated that the path forward on the proposed ASP amendment depends on the substance of the discussion during these sessions. Following the outreach sessions, TSA may simply move forward with final issuance of the revised ASP amendment. However, if TSA receives feedback that is substantially different from the comments submitted in 2020 that would result in further revision to the ASP amendment, the agency would re-issue the amendment for another round of notice-and-comment.
AAAE strongly believes that airport operators should be afforded the opportunity to provide a second round of formal comments on the significantly revised ASP amendment, especially given the changes in the industry and operating environment over the last two years. As a result, we strongly encourage airports to participate in at least one of the sessions scheduled for January 17 and 18 and be vocal with your concerns and questions. AAAE will dedicate its monthly Transportation Security Services Committee Airports-Only Conference Call scheduled on January 11 at 2:00 p.m. ET to review the 2020 ASP amendment on aviation worker screening and discuss potential areas of focus for the January 17 and 18 sessions with TSA. Following are detailed log-in information for the AAAE TSS Committee call on January 11 and the TSA outreach session January 17 and 18. Participants must pre-register for the TSA session that works best for their schedule.
