Security Policy Alert: TSA Monthly Conference Call Reminder for Airport Stakeholders and Recent HSIN Postings

TSA Call Reminder
As a reminder, TSA will host its monthly conference call for airport stakeholders on Thu rsday, December 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. ET . The call-in number is 1-800-857-5826 and the passcode is 9596778.
TSA agenda items include:
'¢ A look ahead at planned industry engagements on both cybersecurity performance-based measures and employee screening. As AAAE previously reported, TSA recently rescinded TSA-PNA-22-03, Cybersecurity Performance-Based Measures, to allow for additional industry engagement, which TSA has scheduled for December 16, 2022. Please note the date change from previously proposed dates in January. TSA will be inviting airport CIO and CISOs to participate in this virtual session. AAAE will share the meeting details as well as soon as they are available. In January, TSA also plans to host industry conference calls focused on employee screening and the agency's plans for moving forward on the 2020 proposed ASP amendment on aviation worker screening.
'¢ Compliance concerns related to TSA-NA-22-01 Cybersecurity Self-Assessments and Contingency Plans (AAAE requested TSA address this issue on the call based on concerns raised by our airport members).
'¢ Policy update, including recently submitted comments on the proposed Public Advisories ASP amendment.

Recent HSIN Postings
'¢ TSA posted the updated National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin . The Bulletin states that the United States remains in a heightened threat environment driven by violent extremists. This Bulletin replaces the current Bulletin that was set to expire today and extends to May 24, 2023;
'¢ Version 2 of the Security Threat Assessments Best Practices guide;
'¢ A postcard outlining a change in one of the contact numbers for the TSA's National Transportation Vetting Center (NTVC). This contact number change affects airport operators who contact the NTVC as part of the gate pass issuance process as part of TSA-NA-18-01 series, Airport Access and Vetting;
'¢ Solicitation for input by airport operators on FAQs for TSA Compliance's Action Plan Program. TSA is in the process of providing guidance for inspectors and eligible parties indicating when an action plan may be an effective method for resolving a compliance violation. In order to start providing this guidance, TSA intends to issue a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to provide more direction for when an action plan is an appropriate remedy for a civil enforcement action. If there is a question you wish to see included in the Action Plan Program FAQs, please submit it to TSA at Ask_Compliance@tsa.dhs.gov by December 15, 2022.
