December 15, 2022
TSA Administrator David Pekoske announced that Melanie Harvey has been named as the new Executive Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. Harvey has been serving as Acting EAA since Darby LaJoye retired earlier this year. Harvey spoke at the 22nd Annual AAAE Aviation Security Summit this week and highlighted the agency's recruiting and retention efforts, its operational plans for the winter holidays, and how to best introduce new technology at the security checkpoint, among other issues.

In her new role, Melanie will be responsible for implementing critical programs and processes that strengthen security operation services. She will continue to provide innovative and expert leadership in the establishment and implementation of comprehensive airport security operations strategies as well as the development, coordination and dissemination of plans, in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws and directives.
Her experience in operational and support organizations has given her the needed foundation to lead Security Operations, which will be particularly valuable in this position.
