Security Policy Alert: TSA Issues Updated Security Directive for Face Mask Requirement

As expected, TSA has issued an updated Security Directive to reflect the extension of the face mask requirement for transportation through March 18, 2022. Security Directive 1542-21-01C, Security Measures: Face Mask Requirements, has been posted on HSIN. There were no other changes made to the SD.
In December, as part of a broader announcement outlining measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 variant omicron, President Biden extended the requirement for face masks for travelers on airplanes, trains, and buses and at airports and transit stations to March 18, 2022.
