Security Policy Alert: TSA to Post Guidance on Unaccounted Badges
April 2, 2020
TSA has informed AAAE that it has issued policy interpretation guidance on unaccounted badges to its Security Operations Office of Compliance staff and will post the document on HSIN tomorrow morning for airport operators.
On today's TSA call for airport stakeholders, TSA reported that it was working on policy interpretation that would allow airports to receive a list of names from aircraft operators, foreign air carrier or other companies holding/securing the badges of furloughed employees or employees on extended leave and consider them accounted for during an audit. Specifically, TSA stated that, under the definition of "unaccounted for badges" under ASP NA 19-02 on ID media audits, if badges for furloughed or extended leave employees are secured under lock and key and reported by tenants to airport authorities, the badges would be considered accounted for.
AAAE will review the policy interpretation guidance once it is posted tomorrow morning and, if needed, report any additional details on the AAAE COVID-19 conference call tomorrow at noon. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
