May 19, 2022

TSA has named Chad Gorman as the Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator for Operations Support. Operations Support oversees the TSA offices of Enrollment Services and Vetting Programs, Intelligence and Analysis, Policy, Plans and Engagement, and Requirements and Capabilities Analysis.

Gorman currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Field Operations at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and most recently completed an assignment as Acting Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 2.

As Acting Regional Administrator, Gorman was responsible for leading a staff of over 1,500 employees to provide 24/7 emergency management, disaster response and recovery support to New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He led the overall federal response to Tropical Storm Ida in New York and New Jersey and implemented innovative resources to accelerate the recovery of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands following Hurricanes Irma and Maria and the 2020 earthquakes.

In a message to TSA employees about the leadership selection, TSA Administrator Pekokse further described Gorman's qualifications for the position: "Chad is a seasoned executive with nearly 19 years of experience in national security, intelligence and emergency management through policy, strategic and operational interventions. He has strong executive-level skills and the ability to lead a large, complex organization. Chad exhibits a particularly keen focus on developing, implementing and evaluating programs to build, sustain and improve capabilities and teams that will prove vital to the success of Operations Support."

Pekoske also thanked Tom Bush who had served as Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator for Operations Support and recently retired from federal service.
