Security Policy Alert: TSA to Issue Cyber Incident Reporting ASP Amendment for Comment
August 18, 2021
TSA has informed AAAE that the agency will post a proposed updated TSA National Amendment 14-01: Incidents and Suspicious Activities Reporting to HSIN tomorrow for a second round of notice and comment.
As discussed on AAAE's Transportation Security Services Committee monthly call, TSA has revised the proposed ASP amendment to align with cyber incident reporting requirements for other modes of transportation. Following the recent cybersecurity attack on a pipeline operator, TSA issued two pipeline security directives related to cybersecurity, including incident reporting. This prompted the agency to examine the appropriate path forward for reporting cybersecurity incidents for all modes of transportation.
Earlier this year, TSA solicited comments on proposed cyber incident reporting requirements as part of the TSA-NA-14-01 series. Comments were due in April. TSA has since significantly revised the proposed ASP amendment and is now issuing it for a second round of notice and comment.
