Regulatory Alert: AAAE Releases 2022“2023 Regulatory Outlook for Airports
October 21, 2022
The AAAE Regulatory Affairs Team has developed a “Regulatory Outlook“ document that provides airports and members with an overview of past and upcoming initiatives, deadlines, and other information pertaining to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other agencies' regulatory actions in 2022“2023 that are important to the industry. With the wide range of ongoing issues that may potentially impact or affect airports, the goal of the document is to help airports navigate the current regulatory environment by having critical information in one location.
You can view our “Regulatory Outlook“ here.
The outlook covers a myriad of topics, including: the 5G C-Band network deployment; advanced air mobility; the Airport Improvement Program and supplemental discretionary grants; airport safety management systems (SMS); Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) implementation; Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act requirements; diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; the transition to unleaded avgas; reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act; PFAS; stormwater management; and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), among others. For ease of reference, the document includes valuable links to agency resources and any AAAE regulatory filings that may pertain to each topic.
We would emphasize that the outlook for some of these issues is based on best possible estimates with information currently available and is always subject to change. However, we hope that airports find the information helpful for planning purposes.
AAAE has also developed a one-page overview of the various grant programs and funds being administered by FAA, including relevant timelines, to help airports navigate the opportunities available for infrastructure funding.
