Regulatory Alert: AAAE Solicits Feedback on Aircraft Noise-Related Issues
February 8, 2021
AAAE is distributing a survey to members to solicit feedback from the airport community on aircraft noise-related issues, particularly the recently released findings from the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) aircraft noise annoyance study, known as the 'Neighborhood Environmental Survey' (NES), and its potential impacts on future policy. As outlined in our January 13 Regulatory Alert, FAA's NES results demonstrated a 'substantially higher percentage of people highly annoyed over the entire range of aircraft noise levels' in comparison to the last study completed in 1992. In response to the NES findings, FAA is seeking feedback from industry stakeholders before March 15, 2021, to determine the agency's next steps, including the potential for conducting additional research before consideration of any policy changes on aircraft noise mitigation.
You can find AAAE's aircraft noise survey here. All results will be held as confidential and will only be used for purposes of helping AAAE respond to FAA and engage with lawmakers on aircraft noise-related issues. We highly encourage you to provide input before February 17, 2020.
