Regulatory Alert: FAA Administrator Steve Dickson Plans to Depart Agency
February 16, 2022
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Administrator Steve Dickson plans to resign from the agency on March 31, according to Bloomberg and other news reports late this evening. Dickson reportedly made the announcement to his staff in a memo this evening, citing personal and family reasons for the departure. Dickson has led the agency during a time of significant challenges in the industry, including crashes involving the Boeing 737 MAX, the COVID-19 pandemic, and recently deployment of Verizon and AT&T's 5G C-Band network.
Dickson has served as Administrator since August 2019 after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a five-year term. Prior to that, he spent almost three decades at Delta Air Lines, retiring as senior vice president of flight operations. After March 31, FAA Deputy Administrator Bradley Mims is expected to become Acting Administrator.
