Regulatory Alert: FAA Extends Deadlines for Submitting a Notice of Intent and Final Grant Application for FY 2020 AIP Entitlement Funds

April 16, 2020

Today the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the agency has extended the deadlines for submitting a notice of intent (NOI) and final grant application for primary, cargo, and nonprimary entitlement funds that are available under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) for fiscal year (FY) 2020. Specifically, FAA has extended the deadline to May 4, 2020, and to June 15, 2020, respectively, of the deadlines for an airport to provide FAA with a NOI to use FY 2020 AIP entitlement funds and to submit a final grant application.

FAA's original notice, issued on January 28, 2020, announced that airports had until April 1, 2020, to notify FAA that it would use its FY 2020 AIP entitlement funds and until May 18, 2020, to submit a final FY 2020 grant application. FAA indicates that the public health emergency has impacted airports' operations and ability to meet these deadlines. FAA also advised that although the April 1 deadline has already passed, FAA will continue to accept notification of an airport's intent to submit a grant application until 12:00 p.m. local time on May 4, 2020.
