AAAE Leadership Development Training
Foundational Leadership Development Training
Great leaders aren't just born; they are nurtured, developed, and refined. In today's fast-paced aviation industry, the demand for effective leadership has never been greater. The Foundational Leadership Development training program is designed to equip aspiring leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to excel in any environment.
Whether you are stepping into a leadership role for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, the Foundational Leadership training will become a resource for personal and professional growth.
Training Structure
The training includes seven online modules designed to enhance your command of vital leadership knowledge and competencies. Each online module includes quizzes designed to solidify your grasp of the material; however, your results remain private, and completing the course is not contingent on your score.
Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that can be shared with your employer and, if desired, on professional networking platforms.
The recommended time to complete the seven Foundational level courses is six months.
You can complete the training through three flexible options:
-
Self-paced, independently: Learn at your own pace and schedule
-
With colleagues and friends: Collaborate with peers from your airport, organization, or region for a group learning experience
-
As part of a cohort: Join a structured group to complete the training together, benefiting from a supportive and interactive environment
Who Should Enroll?
While all members are invited to enroll in the Foundational Level training, the modules are specifically designed for first-time or frontline supervisors – individuals who are stepping into their initial supervisory roles, often transitioning from being part of a team to leading one. They are responsible for managing and guiding the day-to-day activities of a group of employees.
Resource Hub
The Leadership Development Training Resource Hub includes comprehensive student and instructor guides for each training module to support your individual or cohort learning.

The AAAE staff will facilitate the creation of cohorts across the membership twice a year, in July and February. Each cohort will be provided with their own community within the AAAE Member Hub, where you can share and discuss topics from the training as you progress. After an initial orientation session with an overview of the training program with staff, the cohort will create its own schedule of virtual discussions after each module. The staff and members of the Leadership Development Committee will check in with the cohort throughout the six-month session on progress and to provide support.
