About the Course

This five-session training series introduces airport professionals to Operational Readiness, Activation & Transition (ORAT) as a structured discipline that bridges the gap between capital delivery and live operations. While ORAT has long been applied internationally, many U.S. airport programs continue to approach readiness as a late-stage activity rather than an integrated capability. This course is designed to help shift that mindset.

Participants will learn how ORAT supports owners in preparing people, processes, and systems to operate safely and effectively from Day One, while also reducing operational risk, stakeholder friction, and post-opening disruption. The course positions ORAT within the full capital program lifecycle and clarifies how readiness activities align with planning, design, construction, commissioning, and transition.

Across five 90-minute sessions, the series introduces foundational ORAT concepts including governance and ownership, concepts of operations, stakeholder coordination, familiarization and training, operational trials, transition planning, and post-opening support.
