FAA Releases List of $970 Million in FY26 Airport Terminal Program Grants

May 18, 2026

Today, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released a list of airport projects that will receive a share of $970 million in fiscal year 2026 (FY26) discretionary grants under the Airport Terminal Program (ATP), which was created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The agency intends to fund 133 projects at 129 airports, focusing on reconstructing and improving terminals; enhancing energy efficiency for terminals; and upgrading airport-owned air traffic control (ATC) towers; among other purposes.

You can view the complete list of projects that were selected for FY26 ATP grants today here and DOT’s press release and announcement here.

Under the ATP, FAA provided approximately $5 billion to airports via discretionary grants for terminal projects over a five-year period. Last December, FAA released a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) that outlined how airports could apply for a share of approximately $1 billion in available FY26 discretionary funds, which is the final year of the program. In response, FAA received 588 applications requesting $7.1 billion. With the announcement today, all $5 billion has now been awarded to airports for terminal projects.

With no new funding being made available under IIJA for airports after FY26, AAAE has been strongly urging Congress to extend the three IIJA airport programs in FY27. We have argued that without an extension, federal investments in airports would drop precipitously by about $4 billion, leaving a critical void in funding projects that enhance safety, upgrade aging facilities, and improve the travel experience for passengers.

Reminder: AAAE has developed a one-page overview of the various grant programs and funds being administered by FAA, including relevant timelines, to help airports understand the status of infrastructure funding programs. You can access the latest version here.
