The International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE) is the global arm of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the world’s largest professional organization for airport executives. Since AAAE’s founding in 1928, it has been dedicated to advancing airport management professionals and their impact on the aviation industry.

Recognizing the need for international collaboration and professional development, AAAE established IAAE in 1992. Our mission is to equip airport professionals worldwide with the knowledge, resources, and networks they need to succeed in an evolving global economy.

Unlike other aviation organizations, IAAE focuses on the individual—providing professional development and leadership opportunities that enhance personal careers while strengthening the airports and communities they serve.

"As Chair of IAAE and Chief Financial and Commercial Officer at San Francisco International Airport, I've observed the immense value of networking and knowledge sharing that our international programs provide to airport professionals from diverse backgrounds. These initiatives facilitate deep connections among industry peers, enabling the exchange of insights that are crucial for navigating the complexities of global aviation. Such interaction not only enhances professional development but also strengthens the global aviation community."

“When I was in the Navy and deployed to Spain for three years, I worked hand in hand with my Spanish counterparts on different aspects of aviation, from runway construction to ATC communication. I learned a lot from the Spanish military and civilians about how they would approach different areas of aviation management. This has carried over into my civilian career. I enjoy connecting with colleagues from different airports to understand their ways of completing tasks or operating their airfield, which is beneficial to myself and my staff.”

"Leading the task force to review our international programs has been a revelation. My work there allowed me to see the profound impact that robust networking and strategic information sharing have on professionals at all levels of airport management. These initiatives connect us with peers worldwide, enabling smaller airports like ours to share challenges and innovations with larger hubs and those in other parts of the world, enriching our strategies and operational practices. This level of collaboration and learning is crucial for adapting to the ever-evolving global aviation landscape."
